This page contains information about VA compensation.
There are numerous articles on how to figure VA compensation.
Just remember the following rules and you will be fine.

Rule 1.   You will not get more then a 100% total.
Rule 2.   The VA does not add or total ratings as you might expect.
Rule 3.   There are exceptions to the rules and the VA  is always changing the rules.

You received 50% for PTSD.
Now you need 50% more to be at 100%.

Next you receive 30% for Type 2 diabetes.
You now have 50% for PTSD and 30% for diabetes which should equal 80%.
But does not because of
Rule 2.
You will get only 60%  because of
Rule 4.

Rule 4.    Life is not fair.

The VA has a complicated formula they use to confuse us.
I like things simple and use this method.
It does not matter which % you use first as it will all come out the same.
I start with the highest % to make it simple.

You will received 100% of the 50% for PTSD.
(100% possible - 50% for ptsd = 50% possible)

Next you received 30% for Type 2 diabetes.
You will only receive 50% of the 30% for diabetes which is 15%.
(50% possible X  30% for diabetes = 15%)
50% for PTSD plus 15% for diabetes equals 65%.
The VA will only give you 60% because of
Rule 5

Rule 5    If the last digit is less then 6 it is reduced down to 0. If it is 6 or more it is
increased to 10.

You now have 60%  (50% + 10% = 60%) (100% possible - 60% receiving = 40% possible)

This is a simple way for me to understand the VA thought process behind the rating
system and understand how they rate us. I hope this has made things clearer for you.
